Grande Route

The Grande Route is the longest and toughest route of the Dartmoor Classic Sportive. It is open to anyone age 15 years or over. Grande Route entries are restricted to a maximum of 1600.
The Grande Route is electronically chip timed. Gold, Silver or Bronze medals are awarded to all finishers against age and gender category time limits.
Route Profile:
The Grande Route is 107 miles (173 km) and has approximately 10,000 ft (3,072 meters) of elevation. There are ten notable climbs. They are: Trendlebere Down, Beckaford Hill, Holne Hill, Jordan Lane, Butcher Park Hill, Batteridge Hill, Pork Hill, Merrivale Hill, Meripit Hill, and Doccombe Hill. The maximum gradient on the route is 20%.
The first 1.9 miles and the last 2.5 miles of the course are neutralized. This means that these sections are NOT timed and are discounted from the medal standard finish times. Riders are set off in 'Start Waves' and each group of rider will be escorted out of Newton Abbot for the first 1.9 miles. At the finish, riders are encouraged to use the last 2.5 miles from the finish towers to warm down.
Beckaford Hill is a closed road and includes a STRAVA King & Queen of the Mountain segment challenge.
Feed Stations:
There is two Feed Station at Princetown (34 miles | 55 km) and (73 miles | 118 km).
There is a Drink Station at Brentor (62 miles | 100 km).
Cut Off Times:
All rider must clear the Princetown Route Split (34 miles) by 11:00 hrs or they will be diverted onto the Medio Route.
All riders must be finished by 17:30 hrs.
